Compartment of the larval inferior protocerebrum found posterior medial to the larval superior clamp (medial inferior protocerebrum) (Hartenstein et al., 2015. The adult central complex arises from secondary axonal tracts of several lineages that invade this region and displace it during pupal development (Pereanu et al., 2010. A small region at its posterior edge remains and gives rise to the adult inferior clamp (posterior inferior protocerebrum) (Pereanu et al., 2010. (Younossi-Hartenstein et al., 2003, Hartenstein et al., 2015)
Developmental relation to adult synaptic neuropil domain is a PC from Volker Hartenstein. Note - description of relative location of brain structures in this definition is based on Younossi-Hartenstein et al., 2003 description of the first instar larval brain and Pereanu et al., 2010 third instar larval brain.
